Use and Copyright

The Jerome Berryman Archive is maintained jointly by the Center for the Theology of Childhood of the Godly Play Foundation and Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS). The Archive includes both digital and physical materials created and accumulated by Jerome W. Berryman, including but not limited to manuscripts, correspondence, poems, sermons, photographs, videos, lecture notes, and materials related to the development of Godly Play.

Copyright Ownership

Unless otherwise indicated, copyright in the materials within the Jerome Berryman Archive is held by the Godly Play Foundation. Some materials may contain works by other authors, artists, or contributors; in such cases, copyright may be held by those individuals or their estates.

Permitted Use

Materials from the Jerome Berryman Archive are made available for research, teaching, and private study. Users may view, quote, and reference materials for non-commercial, educational purposes in accordance with U.S. copyright law, including the principles of fair use (17 U.S.C. §107).

Restrictions on Use

  • Reproduction, publication, or distribution of materials (in print, online, or other media) requires written permission from the copyright holder.
  • Commercial use, including reproduction in books, films, or digital media for sale, is strictly prohibited without prior authorization.
  • Users are responsible for obtaining any additional permissions required for materials that include works by third parties.

When citing or reproducing materials from the Archive with appropriate permission, please include the following credit line:
