About the Journal

Journal of Childhood and Religion

In 2010, a group of scholars associated with the Childhood Studies and Religions Unit of the American Academy of Religion launched the Journal of Childhood and Religion (JCR), a free peer-reviewed journal under the direction of Dr. Jon Berquist. The journal stopped publishing in 2017.

The Center for the Theology of Childhood of the Godly Play Foundation now manages the JCR. The Rev. Dr. Minor and Dr. Heather Ingersoll serve as the journal’s Co-Editors-in-Chief, and Dr. Sutton-Adams is the associate editor.

We envision this journal as a place where scholars and practitioners can converse and share ideas that promote the well-being and spiritual nurture of children around the globe. We remain committed to making excellent peer-reviewed scholarship accessible to all.
