Angela Urick is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership in the School of Education at Baylor University. In addition, she serves as the Director for Formation for Children and Youth at St. James Episcopal Church, Dallas, TX. In education broadly, she uses applications of leadership and organization theory to understand how to support kids in learning and socio-emotional environments. She translates this framework across organizations, schools and churches, as well as in policy. More specific to churches, Dr. Urick is a Godly Play practitioner and is interested in studying leadership of children and faith. Prior to coming to Baylor in 2020, she was a tenured, Associate Professor, and Director of the Center for Educational Development and Research (CEDaR) at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Urick has served as PI on a faculty research grant from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and as a research consultant on a GEAR UP grant which assists across the state of Oklahoma. Her work has been published in Leadership and Policy in Schools, Educational Administration Quarterly, Journal of Educational Administration, Journal of Education Finance, among others. She is a co-editor of
Educational Researcher and editorial board member for Journal of Childhood and Religion.
